MATCH REPORT: St Martins 1-2 Maine Road

St Martins played their first home game under the new management team against in form Maine Road

A full squad was a welcome site.

The first early chance fell to Maine Road which resulted in a fine save from Jack Perry.

The first chance for St Martins came after a neat build up on the left which resulted in a Graybrook cross which Wells just failed to connect with.

An injured Stimpson went off early to replaced by Easthope

The game was fairly even with Jack Perry being the busier of the keepers until the 38 minute.

From a well worked corner Cork crossed for Hands to connect with a fine header giving St Martins the lead.

The score remained 1-o through to half time.

The second half was fairly even with limited chances.

Harrison replaced Cork after 55 minutes

Then  2 individual mistakes turned the game round in a 5 minute spell.

Twice St Martins gifted the ball to Maine Road just outside of our area & both mistakes were punished with good finishes.

Following this St Martins took some time to settle again but then took the game to Maine Road, with the best chance falling to Will Wells who hit the bar with a close range header from an excellent cross from Bennet.

A couple more half chances followed but to  no avail.

A better performance again which deserved at least a point,
